1. Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Student Chapter

The ACM student chapter at SC State University is in existence since 2011. The chapter resides in the Computer Science and Mathematics Department, and it is open to Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Mathematics, and other STEM Majors. The goal of our student chapter is to provide the students opportunities to play active roles in the association and its activities through organizing/ participating in technical talks, workshops, field trips, networking, and programming contests. The opportunities include the Distinguished Speakers Program, the International Collegiate Programming Contest, and the Student Research Competition. The ACM student chapter at SC State University currently has 10 active members.
2. Upsilon PI Epsilon (UPE) International Honor Society

The purpose of the UPE honor society is to promote the computing and information disciplines and to encourage their contribution to the enhancement of knowledge. UPE is the first and only, existing international honor society in the Computing and Information disciplines. The UPE honor society at SC State University is in existence since 2011 and it resides in the Computer Science and Mathematics Department. The eligibility criteria for students to be a member of UPE honor society at SC State University is as follows: (1) Candidate for an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, (2) Completed at least 45 semester hours for undergraduate credit, (3) Completed at least 15 semester hours in the basic courses in computer science, (4) Must have an overall cumulative GPA of at least 3.000, and (5) Must have a GPA of at least 3.300 in all computer science coursework. The UPE membership fee is $60.00. 20+ computer science students have been inducted to UPE honor society at SC State with 1 member receiving $1,000 UPE/ACM Scholarship Award in 2012.
3. Cybersecurity and Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence Club (IC CAE – Cybersecurity Club)

The purpose of the Cybersecurity and Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence Club is to provide the students opportunities to stay current in the ever-changing world of cybersecurity through activities such as participating in technical talks, workshops, field trips and programming contests. The IC CAE - Cybersecurity club at SC State University is in existence since 2020 and it resides in the Computer Science and Mathematics Department. The IC CAE – Cybersecurity club at SC State University currently has 25+ active members
4. National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)

The mission of NSBE at South Carolina State University is "to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community." The NSBE at SC State University is in existence since 2002, and it resides in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Transportation (STEM-T). Computer Science and Mathematics Department with 19 active members.
